Last Days of Lazarus PC Steam Review

Over the years there have been many horror-survival games released. The Resident Evil franchise has been a good example of this which has always been a AAA title. But there have been many horror games that are equally as good from Indie developers which sometimes can get overlooked. This is a great game as these Indie games need recognition as well. The title I am reviewing here is Last Days of Lazarus, a first-person action game from a small Indie team, Darkania Works, who released Gray Dawn. So let us look below if Last Days of Lazarus is a mainstream game or a B-Movie wannabe.

The Suspense is Killing Me

Last Days of Lazarus is an action game that is a horror-survival game set in a post-Soviet Eastern Europe. You play a character that has been estranged for years from his family but returns home as he gets a call that his mom has passed away. From when I first loaded up the game the first thing that pulled me in was the beautiful visuals of the cut scene. It was very atmospheric and immediately immerses the player into the game.

What’s New Pussycat

The story narrative is gripping and will pull you into the character’s story within the first five minutes. The puzzles are very intuitive and while some are easy to solve, others are trickier and will require some thinking, but this is done perfectly so you don’t get frustrated and want to quit. The voice acting is top notch with all the characters that you encounter, which along with the music and sound effects it gives the game that true suspense feeling not knowing what will happen next. Also you get to pet a cat!!

Collections and Chapters

Coming back to the visuals they are very detailed and you can’t but help stop and examine everything you encounter. You collect various objects, documents, and collectables as you progress through the game. The game is split into chapters and after each chapter it saves so you can reload it and collect anything you have missed during the first play. The only thing that might put people off is that there is a lot of religion in the game, but this should not be a problem for most people.

Final Thoughts

Last Days of Lazarus is a fun, immersive action horror survival game. Upon first play you will be forgiven for thinking this is a AAA title and not a Indie game. Everything is done amazing and for the price it is a contender for game of the year for sure. Buy it you won’t be disappointed.
